Tucson Bicycle Classic
Three of the El Grupo participants courageously competed in Tucson's most prestigious bike race this past weekend (March 28-30). It was an extremely challenging 3-day stage race starting with a time trial on Friday out in McCain's loop; then a road race down in Sahuarita on Saturday; and finally, ending with a circuit race near Pima Community College West Campus. Max, weighing in as our youngest rider with 12 years, rocked the weekend on his mom' old 1970's steel-lugged Trek, rack and all! Ron and Alex, both 18 and racing with the Cat 5's (grown men), worked together to pull off 6th and 8th place overall out of over 50 riders. All of El Grupo went out on Sunday to cheer them on, and show just how proud we were of them.
