AZ Crit Champs

Another super successful, fun, and crazy weekend.

13-14 Boys
2nd Place Tulio
3rd Place Logan

Tulio and Logan really drove the pace of this race the whole time. They were the two at the front every time I saw the race and really putting the pressure on. Kenny Polly the eventual winner really nailed the finished and got great position for the win. He deserves a lot of credit for a smart race, but the boys in that race were cooked because Tulio and Logan pushed the pace.

13-14 Girls
2nd Place Lizzy

Lizzy could have had a better chance to win this race had she realized she could ride in her big ring the whole time. She spent the first 10 min of the 20 min race in the middle ring letting the other girls open up a 30 second gap. Once I realized this I started telling her to shift and don't you know in less than 2 laps she had closed the gap and by the end she was sprinting for the win. A Yuma girl Andrea got her at the line, but a great battle non the less.

15-16 Boys
4th Place Max

Max endured a really crummy starting position to open the day, fought his way to the front, then really poured it on for most of the race. He knows where he could have won the race and knows that next time the others might not be so lucky.

10-12 Boys
4th Place Avery

Donovan and Nathan also raced and did quite well while learning a ton. They both got beat by a few people and beat a few people, and finished having enjoyed the race.

Everyone came away from the race realizing things they had done well and things they could do better, so I am very pleased with the teams ability to learn.

Max, Alex and Tulio also raced in the cat 4 and 5 races respectively but I have no official results.

Alex told me he finished top 10 while Max got tangled up in a crash and was unable with 2 laps left to catch and contest the finish.

As for Tulio I have no idea how he did, but I am going to presume quite well he was riding with a pretty big smile on Sunday.

Congratulations to all and I am really looking forward to the road race champs.
